30th SS Cavalry Division Lazarus
While the Nazis stressed the advanced, mechanized nature of their armies in propaganda, the vast majority of the German war machine still relied on cavalry horses. This was not ignored by the SS, which had seven cavalry divisions. However, in an attempt to improve upon traditional cavalry, other animals were considered for use, particularly those with significant propaganda value. To this end, the SS created the 30th SS Cavalry Division, nicknamed "Lazarus," which would be equipped primarily with animals from Earth's primordial past.
